Every time i came home
with a bruise,
she applied balm.

Every time i came home
with failed marks sheet,
she laughed it off.

Every time i came home
with a different smell, love bite
she pretended not to notice.

Every time i left home
vouching not to return,
she waited knowing i’ll return.

Every time i brought home
new guys,
she treated them with same respect.

Every time i came home
after being fired,
she gave me money to splurge.

Every time i came home
after heart break,
she let me cry on her lap.

She said, you’ll let love ruin your life,
i looked into her eyes and asked,
Just like yours!
She looked away…….

I still come home,
with tales.
it’s just that she isn’t around!!

Amma……How i wish you were around…..
